Happy 2012!

Another year, another try at blogging. Parker is now almost 2 and a half and he is so much fun! I am so worried that if I don't write stuff down, Ryan and I are going to forget how awesome our little man is. I guess that maybe for my first post of 2012 I will do a picture year in review of 2011. Enjoy!

My bad...

I have not been a very good blogger since starting this thing! I guess that I figured that I would magically have more time...Obviously I guessed wrong. I don't have too much to post but wanted to share a cute video of my little P. This weekend was his first time in the pool--and he LOVED it! Enjoy!

Mother's Day Weekend

Ryan Parker Wetsell on the day he was born, 9 short months ago!
This was my very first Mother's Day--and it was spectacular. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend with my boys. A big THANK YOU to Ted and Leslie Belden for letting us use your beautiful Lake House. Getting away from everything (and everybody) was exactly what this Mama needed!

Friday was Parker's 9 month birthday. I started looking back at his newborn baby pictures--it is hard to grasp how much he has learned over the past 9 months. It seems like just yesterday he was brand new and relied completely on Ryan and I. In 9 short months he would much rather be crawling and exploring than cuddling with us.

We headed up to the Lake after work on Friday. As soon as we got there and got our stuff unpacked I could immediately feel myself unwind. There is something so relaxing about the fresh air and the sound of waves lapping up on the shoreline. I will have to say that this trip was quite different from the last time Ryan and I were there--but definitely just as wonderful. It was 2 years ago, and we were celebrating our Anniversary. Needless to say Parker was our little Souvenir. I loved getting to share one of my favorite places with my little man.

As soon as we got there we walked down to the bank. Parker LOVED the water!

Then when we got back inside it was time to play. He wanted to pull out every toy that we brought (as well as a few that his friend Hayden leaves up there).

After about an hour the poor guy completely conked out!

On Saturday, we had another very laid back day. I think that Parker's favorite part was trying out his new swim trunks in the tub with daddy.

Mommy's favorite part of the day was sitting in the hot tub enjoying the gorgeous view with Ryan (Parker was napping at this point).

On Mother's Day, Ryan let me sleep in, cooked me breakfast (and cleaned it up) and then to top it all off let me watch Lifetime Movies. I certainly couldn't have asked for a more memorable Mother's Day weekend! Thank you Ryan and Parker! I love you both so, so much! A post with pictures of our weekend will be coming shortly (and by shortly, I mean when I can find a spare 5 minutes to upload them).

Confessions of a shopaholic...

The world is made up of two kinds of people—savers and spenders. Well, my dear friends, I definitely fall into the latter category. My name is Jamie….and I am a shopaholic. There, I said it. Now I should preface the rest of this post to let you know that I am not as bad as say, the character Rebecca Bloomwood, from the book Confessions of a Shopaholic. My bad shopping habits are not causing Ryan and me to have to eat Ramen noodles each night for dinner or anything awful like that.

That being said, you name it, I like to buy it. Shoes, sparkly baubles, purses—absolutely anything I can get my hands on. And I am not just a selfish spender—I live for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays, and random Tuesdays to spoil my loved ones with goodies. My question is can a spender ever actually change into a saver? I want to be one. I make budgets and spreadsheets and plans and much to my dismay I fail. I try to avoid places that I feel are too “dangerous” for me (i.e. Target, the mall). I leave my debit card at home hoping that it will curb any online shopping during my lunch hour. Unfortunately, I have my card information memorized (a true sign that one is an actual shopaholic in my opinion!). Is there any hope for me?!

I would welcome any ideas or thoughts on the subject…

Better late than never...

So, now that my son is almost 9 months old, I have decided to finally start a blog. All of my friends have blogs, and I find them completely fascinating, but due to one reason or another it has taken me until now to jump on the bandwagon!

Here's to hoping that I can properly document the rest of Parker's first year, as well as what's going on in the Wetsell household...I hope that you can join me!
