Confessions of a shopaholic...

The world is made up of two kinds of people—savers and spenders. Well, my dear friends, I definitely fall into the latter category. My name is Jamie….and I am a shopaholic. There, I said it. Now I should preface the rest of this post to let you know that I am not as bad as say, the character Rebecca Bloomwood, from the book Confessions of a Shopaholic. My bad shopping habits are not causing Ryan and me to have to eat Ramen noodles each night for dinner or anything awful like that.

That being said, you name it, I like to buy it. Shoes, sparkly baubles, purses—absolutely anything I can get my hands on. And I am not just a selfish spender—I live for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays, and random Tuesdays to spoil my loved ones with goodies. My question is can a spender ever actually change into a saver? I want to be one. I make budgets and spreadsheets and plans and much to my dismay I fail. I try to avoid places that I feel are too “dangerous” for me (i.e. Target, the mall). I leave my debit card at home hoping that it will curb any online shopping during my lunch hour. Unfortunately, I have my card information memorized (a true sign that one is an actual shopaholic in my opinion!). Is there any hope for me?!

I would welcome any ideas or thoughts on the subject…

  1. You have your card information memorized?!? That is impressive!

I never think of you as a shopaholic... but then again, I never venture into your closet.

Just try and put your money in the bank - and really, as long as you are spending wisely and not over-spending then I say shop-away!
